Alain Ducasse
Hailed by many as the greatest chef of his time, Alain Ducasse, the world's only six-star chef, has opened 12 restaurants in five countries since 1990, co-authored ten cookbooks, developed a line of cookware and is now president of Chateaux & Hôtels de France. Having opened the Alain Ducasse restaurant at the Essex House in New York City last year, his most recent move was to extend his culinary influence to the recently renovated Plaza Athenée in Paris. See below for a comprehensive list of his restaurants and experience a meal to remember.

Johann Sebastian Bach
Renowned as one of the world's greatest composers, surprisingly, Johann Sebastian Bach was practically unknown during his lifetime. This was partially due to the fact he was not well travelled and unlike many of his great contemporaries he stayed close to home and never established an international reputation. Lovers of this great musician can follow his life and the places in which he lived by clicking on the link to the feature.

Charles Rennie Mackintosh
In just 25 years Glasgow has transformed itself beyond all recognition, from being a city of tenements and street crime, to one of the cultural capitals of northern Europe and well worth a visit. The works of Charles Rennie Mackintosh are among the jewels in Glasgow's crown. For just 20 years this architect-designer carried out his frantic labour-of-love in the city, but the results that remain are enough to draw admirers from all over the world. Born on 7th June 1868, Mackintosh trained as an architect and studied art and design at evening classes at the Glasgow School of Art.
